NEW Provides Testimony to the DC Council on Behalf of Gender-Specific Housing Services

Last week, NEW, along with partners N Street Village, Calvary Women’s Services and House of Ruth provided testimony to the DC Council in support of gender-specific housing. They noted that one-third of the people experiencing homelessness in DC are women and yet only 4 percent of DC housing programs are dedicated to women. This while more than 40 percent of women experiencing homelessness have also experienced domestic violence.
