New Endeavors by Women’s 2025 Volunteer Service Award: Evan Piekara & Nestlé

ree

Evan Piekara is the Director of Change Management at Nestlé and has been a dedicated supporter of New Endeavors by Women since 2015 when he first organized a volunteer event to support NEW, before joining the board in 2016. He served as board treasurer and then as board chair until 2022.

NEW is grateful to Evan for his steadfast, enthusiastic support of our mission over the years in every role he’s taken on, both in his career at Nestlé and at NEW, and will be honoring him and his support at our September 18, 2025 Moving Out of Homelessness fundraising event.

Here’s a word from Evan about why he is enthusiastic about the work of New Endeavors by Women.

In a previous role, I did research on great local organizations driving change and came across New Endeavors by Women. I reached out to organize a volunteer event and immediately was galvanized by their dedication to the women they serve and nurturing environment they create.
NEW evaluates every dollar and how to deploy it to best support their mission. Their approach of individualized service has led to life-changing results for countless women. During my connection with NEW, I’ve witnessed numerous examples of their impact on the women they serve.
NEW’s individualized and nurturing approach positions the women it serves to move out of homelessness in a region that has a significant homeless population. With a challenging funding environment, it is vital now more than ever to support NEW and our homeless population.
I’ve been associated with NEW for over a decade and NEW continues to improve and evolve to better serve the women impacted. There continues to be a tremendous need for NEW’s localized and individualized services. It takes a community to end homelessness, and I will continue to build this community to support NEW’s mission and hope you become part of NEW’s community.

Every volunteer who shares their time with NEW is a partner in ending homelessness in DC, and is an active member of the NEW community dedicated to changing lives and uplifting the women at NEW. The generosity and leadership shown by volunteers like Evan and his team at Nestlé helps make the work of NEW’s team lighter and deepens the sense of community members ready to uplift and cheer on the women of NEW.
