NEW presented long-time supporter Pastor Tom Knoll with the Mary Popit Partner in Caring Award at this year’s fundraiser. NEW’s relationship with Tom dates back to 2007 when NEW took over programming at a reunification program at a property in Southeast that was owned by the nonprofit Trinity Landholding where Tom is the Board Chair.
With a Master’s degree in divinity and social work, Tom’s entire life has been about service to others. Until recently, Tom served as the pastor of First Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also Executive Director of Community Family Life Services.
“Tom has been an incredible asset to NEW,” said NEW Executive Director Wanda Steptoe. “He is generous and kind, but more importantly, because of the work he’s in, he really does seem to care about the women, and he cares deeply about ensuring they have housing in a city where housing prices keep increasing. I was so glad we could honor him with the Mary Popit Partner in Caring Award.”
